DESCRIPTION:At Habitat for Humanity Omaha\, we know how hard you work to purchase your home. With our Generational Wealth events\, we make sure that your hard-earned home stays with your loved ones. We host a free event where we bring in volunteer attorneys to meet with Nebraska homeowners to get a transfer on death deed (TODD) in place. This deed is similar to a will\, but only relates to your home—not your other assets. This deed also ensures that your loved ones do not have to go through the probate process after you pass\, which normally takes a few years and thousands of dollars. \nPrior to the event\, homeowners register for a 30-minute timeslot to meet with a lawyer to get any questions about the deed answered\, or to learn about how this deed relates to any other documents you already have in place. After meeting with your lawyer\, the deed gets signed\, dated and notarized. The next business day\, Habitat employees register the deed with the Register of Deeds office downtown. Once they receive confirmation that the deeds are registered and filed\, your original deed gets mailed back out to you (this process typically takes 2 business days\, so please expect to see your deed in the mail within the week). \nThis event is completely free and is open to any homeowner in Nebraska\, not just those in the Omaha-metro area. Peter and Paul Parish will launch the oldest\, largest and longest-running annual church\nfestival on Sunday\, August 4\, from noon – 8:00 p.m. on the parish grounds at\n36th & “X” Street\, Omaha\, NE. \nA single drawing for $5\,000\, a second prize of $500\, and additional $100 prizes headline Omaha’s greatest summer church festival with continuous live music\, providing an entire day of live entertainment. Other drawings include handmade quilts and afghans\, meat raffles\, “pickles”\, along with numerous rides\, games and events for children and the entire family. \nEveryone is invited to bring hearty appetites to savor delicious ethnic foods\, including Sts. Smile Fest is a fun-filled day for families and kids with midway games\, hamster ball racing\, Big V’s Bubble Soccer\, kids zones\, bounce houses\, face-painting\, vendors\, concessions\, live entertainment sponsored by Carr Productions\, and so much more!\nProceeds raised will support the work Share My Smile does\, which includes providing birthday boxes to foster children\, offering fun family events such as trips to Henry Doorly Zoo and the Children’s Museum\, giving children new to foster care a care bag with toiletries\, school supplies\, and personal care items\, and making sure every Share My Smile family has Christmas gifts under the tree each December.
