Radio set the vibe and two of the most popular stations for young people had something in common: they both started in Council Bluffs. Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 2 pm the Douglas County Historical Society presents a look back at the incredible popularity and influence KOIL and Sweet 98 (KQKQ) had during the 1950s-1990s and even into the 21st Century. The program will be presented by Sweet 98’s first Breakfast Flake, Dick Warner, who later hosted the station’s “Nostalgia Rock” program for a decade. The program will be held in the auditorium in Macaluso Hall on the College of St. Mary campus in Omaha. Admission is $5; there is plenty of free parking at the auditorium. To ensure sufficient seating RSVP is requested by email members@DouglasCoHistory.org or phone 402-455-9990.
