Boomer Business of the Week – Charlie Graham Body and Service

Charlie Graham Body and Service

“Taking care of our customers is our most important goal.” Manager, Jim Champion.

The name Charlie Graham has been around the Omaha area for quite some time. For as long as their doors have been open, Charlie Graham Body and Service has always been devoted to its customers. You might remember the original Charlie Graham Buick location at 27th and Harney, but in 1968 Charlie Graham decided he needed more space so he bought the current building on corner 42nd and Leavenworth, which used to be a Hinky Dinky Grocery. Charlie Graham went on to sell that shop in 1977 and soon after that in 1987, current owner Jim Champion bought it. Charlie Graham was well known and respected in Omaha, so when Jim took over the name stayed the same.

Charlie Graham Body and Service specializes in collision repair, mechanical repair and they even have a full service department where customers can have their oil changed, tires checked, etc. The staff at Charlie Graham are dedicated to delivering complete satisfaction at all times to all of their customers. I saw this first hand. Everyone I’ve met and talked at Charlie Graham has been extremely friendly and they really know how to treat everyone like family. Anyone who steps foot through the front doors can understand how they pride themselves on delivering quality repairs with friendly customer service.

Just recently Jim sold Charlie Graham to Great Plains Auto Body. But don’t worry, the new owners are keeping the name, just as Jim did when he bought it 29 years ago – and they aren’t going very far at all! Right across the street will be where the new Charlie Graham Body and Service will be located. The original sign is moving with the business as well! The current building occupies about 12000 square feet and then new building will be around 15000 square feet. Great Plains Auto Body has three locations in Omaha already and they are excited about opening up a fourth. Bruce and Joyce Hansen own the company, along with their son Matt and his wife Erin.

Jim told me by staying in the same location, with the same name has been the key to their success. Charlie Graham’s longevity has served the Omaha community well and will continue to do so even under new ownership!
